It was raining great, fat, cold drops when I took this photo. A man walked by with a slight smirk on his face as he watched me. I grinned and said, “I couldn’t help myself!” He grinned back and told me he and his friend had been planning to take their own picture later that day.

We agreed — whoever tagged this street sign knows a thing or two.

I’ve been looking for small details on my walks. Unconventional angles. Shadow. Light. Bits of the unusual in the absolutely usual. Mostly just wanting to feel utterly absorbed by the world, to feel intrigued and open.

It’s nice. I recommend this absorption, not in a dutiful go-to-the-gym sort of way, but just for a few minutes when the mood strikes.
