Working so hard to create our own perfection,
we forget that we are human beings.
Marion Woodman

About Mara

My approach to healing is eclectic, drawing from psychodynamic and Jungian therapy, systems counseling, dreamwork, humanistic psychology, mythology, and even Buddhist philosophy.

I have a master’s degree in applied behavioral science from Bastyr University and a master’s degree in mythology and depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I am currently writing my dissertation to complete a Ph.D. in mythology and depth psychology from Pacifica.

Years of experience as a psychotherapist, community-agency counselor, and psychiatric hospital clinician have connected me with clients from diverse cultures, races, classes, religions, and sexual orientations. My training in counseling and psychotherapy is ongoing, and I attend workshops each year to hone my skills and to enhance my work with clients.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a writer and editor, and I continue to publish freelance work.

My affiliations include the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the C.G. Jung Society of Seattle, and The Foundation for Mythological Studies.
